Jack O'Rion

traditional - English folk song

mp3 An old ballad bordering on the bawdy and beyond. No less old for sharing a tune with the more well known pop song of the 60s 'Donald Where's Your Trousers'. Try not to remember that when you listen to this rollicking ballad that brings to mind a time when the word 'Magician' was the same word as 'Musician' and music was thought to be casting spells on people, their moods or lulling them off to sleep. Jack was a likely lad and his apprentice was no doubt well on the way to learning all the tricks of the trade.

A version of this song was also recorded by Pentangle (the late Bert Jansch) Martyn Carthy and others.

This mp3 is from a recorded version of the song found on
Graham Dodsworth's 'In Good King Arthur's Day ' CD release
Graham Dodsworth - arrangement, vocal & guitar
