The song has a huge history and is amost synonymous with the waste of life associated with war. The song is referred to in Eric Bogle's 'No Man's Land' (often titled 'Willie McBride' or 'Green Fields of France' by means of appropriation) and most often played at funerals, especially in Scotland and usually on the bagpipes. | ||
