Australian Through & Through

by Tony Miles

mp3 The inspiration for the song came from the contrast between the romantic portrayal of Australians as illiterate bushmen and the reality of the everyday Australians Miles had met both in the cities and the bush of Australia. The song also touches on the 'cultural cringe', still alive and kicking today.

Tony Miles released this song as the title track of a cassette tape in the early 1980s.
Originally from the UK, after a brief spell in Melbourne in the early 1970s, Tony lived out the rest of his years enjoying the warmer climate in Brisbane. He was at one time a member of the resident band at Stan Arthur's 'Folk Centre' in Anne Street Brisbane. Tony also worked as crew on a number of television documentaries in the tropics and later took to visual arts as a painter.
