An Old Bush Song

Australian folk song - traditional/Banjo Patterson

mp3 Commonly thought of as a song written by Andrew Barton (Banjo) Patterson, certainly found in his collection along with many other songs, this song was also collected and thought to be a favourite of all the 'old hands' among the bushworkers of early 20th century Australia.

Also commonly known as 'Travelling Down the Castlereigh' or 'A Bushman's Song'.
Banjo Patterson while known to take casual work on sheep stations in rural Australia was highly educated and also a war correspondent and at one time the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald.
